Guidelines to applicants
These notes have been compiled to help applicants to the Ryklow Charitable Trust understand how the trust operates. It will help enormously if you try to ensure that your application follows these guidelines if at all possible.
Guidelines
1. Applications should be brief. Ryklow is a small charity with few Trustees and there is little time for them to read numerous or long documents.
2. Applicants should be charities or 'not for profit' organisations and the areas considered will be: projects in the developing world / help for vulnerable families / conservation.
3. Applications will only be considered if the applications are UK registered, have a UK sponsor, or are affiliated to a UK registered charity.
4. Priority will be given to applications from the East Midlands area of the UK.
5. The trustees are particularly interested in supporting sustainable projects i.e. "seed corn" projects.
6. An audited financial report is necessary, or at the least a statement of finances. Where individuals are unable to provide this, the trustees require applicants to send evidence of their bona fides with their application. In the absence of such evidence the application will not be considered.
7. It is requested that all applications for grants are submitted only in the period 1st September to 31st December. Messrs. Robinsons Solicitors collate the applications and information received. This information is then reviewed and forwarded to the trustees, forming the grants committee, for consideration and recommendation. The grants committee usually meets annually during March to assess applications. Successful applicants are paid their awards by the end of that month. Only exceptional cases and those of real emergency are considered at other times.
8. Unfortunately we are unable to help every applicant. To keep costs down we do not write to unsuccessful applicants. Therefore if you have not heard from us by the end of April, you will know that your application has been unsuccessful.
9. Applications will only be considered if they are submitted using the attached application form.
